In Niksic, on 12 October 2017, a workshop on “Strengthening public participation in the processes of impact assessment (EIA) and strategic environmental assessment (SEA)” was held, led by well- known ecological activist Aleksandar Perovic, from the NGO “Ozon”. Participants of the workshop were representatives of the Coalition 27, as well as representatives of Niksic-based NGO “Parish in the heart” and the Agency for Local Democracy and informal groups of citizens “The river is life.” The same had the opportunity to see concrete examples of different models of public participation in specific procedures related to projects and their impact on the environment.
Also, it was agreed to do a case study of some of the procedures for public participation in the EIA and SEA processes in Montenegro.

The workshop was held within the project “Environmental Networking towards Sustainable Development “, which is implemented by the NGO “North Land” with the project partners: NGO “Center for Bird Protection and Study of Montenegro” and the NGO “Association of Young Ecologists”, which is supported by CO SEED project, funded by the European Union through the Instrument for civil society and the media.
