The round table titled Waste Management in Montenegro – a challenge to the path of European integration, was organized 09.21.2016. in the Regional Business Centre in Berane.This event was organized within the project “Capacity Building for a better environment in Montenegro”, NGOs North Land implemented in partnership with NGOs Green Home and the Centre for Bird Protection and Study in Podgorica, the Association of Young Ecologists of Niksic and Green Action from Zagreb, Croatia, financed by the IPA 2014 Civil Society Facility Programme Montenegro.

At the round table, organized by, among others, on the occasion of the proclamation of the twentyfifth year of ecological country, we heard the voices of representatives from both state and local governments, and NGO representatives about this, for all citizens, an important topic, which is already more than a decade is the focus of many.

On the problems faced by local governments and utility companies spoke, among others, Mayor of Plav, Orhan Šahmanović, and director of Berane utility company, Savo Vučetić. Answers to some of the questions gave Igor Jovanovic, a representative of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, who in his opening speech emphasized the importance of introducing primary selection. Ljiljana Radunovic, the NGO Eco center Delfin, from Kotor, talked about the importance of participation of civil society in the design and implementation of waste management policy in Montenegro.

Priority of resolving the situation in the field of waste management in the North of Montenegro, with the necessary support of National Government to local governments in establishing integrated and sustainable system is one of the conclusions of this meeting.
