NGO “North Land” from Berane organized a meeting of representatives of the Coalition 27 with representatives of the Agency for Environmental Protection, responsible for the impact assessment (EIA) and strategic impact assessment (SEA), and on which mentioned procedures, previous practice and the possibilities for further improvement of these processes were discussed. The meeting, entitled “Participation of non-governmental sector in the process of impact assessment and strategic impact assessment in Montenegro” was aimed that in qualitative dialogue between representatives of the state administration and civil sector open up a number of themes related to the processes of EIA and SEA, and that results in concrete conclusions.

After the presentation of the project ” Environmental Networking towards Sustainable Development” by Rita Barjaktarovic, Tamara Brajovic and Jasmina Jankovic Misnic, from Agency presented the legal framework of the above-mentioned processes, as well as their previous experience. Milija Cabarkapa from NGO “Green Home” spoke on “Public participation in decision-making processes related to EIA/SEA” which initiated the discussion of participants. The focus of their talks was on the shortcomings in the implementation of public consultation, the capacity of the implementing procedures of the EIA and SEA, but also on the quality of the studies and reports on strategic assessment.
The meeting concluded that it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations active in the field of the environment, so that they become equal stakeholders in the EIA and SEA, with state institutions and professional companies.
The project ” Environmental Networking towards Sustainable Development ” implemented by NGO “North Land” with the project partners: NGO “Center for Bird Protection and Study of Montenegro” and the NGO “Association of Young Ecologists”, which is supported by CO SEED project, funded by the European Union through the Instrument for civil society and the media.
